volunteer instructions

requirements

The Traceside Barracudas Swim Team is a competitive summer swim team and a member of the Nashville Swim League (NSL). In order to be a team within the NSL there are rules and regulations set in the NSL constitution that must be met and followed. More specifically, there are volunteer positions that must be filled at every meet by the participating teams or else the team will be fined.

Our swim team is completely volunteer driven by the parents on the team, with the exception of the coaching staff. Every family is required to volunteer at a minimum of two meets for the season. If you feel that you can not volunteer (we highly encourage this option as it is an excellent way to learn the sport and meet neighbors), we are offering a “buyout” option in which you can pay the team $120 ($60 per meet per family) and we will hire a volunteer for your spots.

If you choose the buyout you may pay online during registration, or by check made out to Traceside Swim Team. Please deliver to Tom Sorrano at 6556 Buttercup Drive, no later than May 31st.

registration & volunteer sign up

As you register, you will be asked to pick two meets for which you can volunteer. Changes can be made later if you determine you need to swap dates.

Once you’ve completed registration, please click the link below to sign up for your Volunteer Positions on the 2 dates you chose.

First year families should be given first choice on easy tasks such as timers to allow them to understand swimming before moving on to the more advanced positions.

Veteran families are asked to choose options such as Stroke and Turn and Clerk of Course if possible. The volunteer coordinator may make adjustments as needed and will contact you with any changes. If all positions you are comfortable serving in are full on your date, please add your name to the SUB list.

things to keep in mind

  1. Your registration will not be confirmed until you select your volunteer days or choose the buyout option.

  2. Please remember to choose your slots quickly so you can volunteer for the meets that you prefer.

  3. If you can not work the meet that you have indicated, we are asking that you notify the volunteer coordinator and find a substitution to avoid having to pay the volunteer fee.

  4. The Volunteer Coordinator will be assigning the positions during the month of May but will be making adjustments as needed.

  5. If you are a parent with children in the 6 & Under group, make sure you have another non-volunteering adult who can ensure your child is supervised as almost all of the volunteer tasks do not allow you to step away once the meet has begun.
